This case study presents a project focused on developing album covers for a music artist.

The case study highlights the creation of album covers designed to embody the distinctive aesthetic of Command Records. These album covers are characterized by their abstract designs, where vibrant shapes and rich colors are thoughtfully curated to reflect the musical tones and rhythms contained within each album. Each cover serves as a visual representation, capturing the essence of the music and inviting listeners to experience the sound even before playing the record.

The primary challenge encountered during the development of this project was achieving a cohesive visual aesthetic for all the album covers while simultaneously conveying the distinct emotional experiences associated with each album. This required careful consideration of design elements to balance uniformity with the unique artistic expressions of each work.

Exploration:

What shapes should be used for each album?
How spaced out do the elements need to be?
What colors would express the up and down feelings expressed in each album?
How should the layout incorporate the title and logos?

Findings:

Some ads feature circles to express melancholy tones while others feature triangles/diamonds to invoke a more upbeat and energetic tone.
Each element has been carefully placed to catch the viewer’s attention while avoiding clutter.
Orange expresses energy and optimism, while blue expresses melancholy and serenity. The black reflects individuality and mystery.
The title is top-center while the logos are above it to emphasize Command Records.

Each of these ads has been creatively placed on a vibrant mockup, adding an engaging texture that brings them to life. After that, they were showcased on another polished mockup, allowing us to visualize the final product in a captivating way. These mockups help transform these ideas into a stunning visual experience!
